California Lady Queen 2000
California Lady Queen 2000
Blended wines that are sold under a brand name normally vary little from on year to the next. The bottler's target is a consistent product that will deliver what the regular customer expects. So, I was a little surprised to find that this wine was so different in 2000 from the 1999 year.

There is no indication of the grape varieties used in this wine but I'd characterise the difference that the 1999 seemed to be largely Merlot whereas the 2000 seemd to be more Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a full bodied heavy wine with a strong taste and a trace of unpleasentness in the aftertaste. Not quite so good as the 1999 version.

It's made in the US but shipped in bulk and bottled in Germany. The label is in German and English so I expect that it is available in quite a few countries in Western Europe. The shop from which I bought a bottle sells a similar but better wine from France for a slightly lower price so I cannot recommend this wine.
